Purposeful Learning
Learning Bug Preschool is not a traditional preschool or daycare. We combined homeschooling and Reggio Emilia teaching philosophies to design a child focused atmosphere that is best suited for children and families who follow a holistic approach to learning. We understand that children show their understanding in a variety of ways, and we aim to provide them with many mediums to do so. As such, our classroom environment is a purposeful space. As teachers, we follow the children’s interest and design lessons based on their level and interest. We also spend most of our day outdoors enjoying nature.

Calm and Reflective
Our in-home classroom is designed to be calm and reflective of the children’s interest and wonders. True learning occurs not through our teaching, but through creation of a space, the environment, and opportunity to learn. We are an inclusive classroom with toys and printed material reflecting many ethnicities and cultural diversity.
The children spend time in age appropriate classrooms and we combine them outdoors in our outdoor classroom.

Engaging
Our curriculum is focused on art, social-emotional skills, language, writing, math, science, and Spanish. The children have control over topics or “units of study” that they want to learn. Our role is to support them as they explore the world and not limit their learning by exclusively teaching to our viewpoint or understanding.
Our program is rich in community and we focus on what is developmentally appropriate for the children in our classroom.
What Families Are Saying
“Our two boys had a fantastic experience at Learning Bug Preschool. Had we not moved away they would still be enrolled there. Everyday one of our boys brings up Marylee or one of the many things they learned while attending. I highly recommend enrolling your children here!”
— John, Parent
“As a proud Auntie of a child who attends, I've never seen someone who puts so much care, passion, organization, and fun into the lives of little ones! We are so thankful!”
— Lauren, Auntie
“From the minute we walked in, we felt so welcomed. The preschool facility is beautiful with lots of wooden toys and science projects and so many books. My daughter really had fun there and you can see from the moment you meet Marylee that she is fantastic with children and really cares. “
— Yamile, Parent
